Largest solar array on a municipally-owned landfill in New England
Borrego Solar developed, designed, permitted and installed the Worcester solar landfill project. We will also be providing O&M services.
Connected to the grid in the summer 2017, the Worcester Landfill project is built on 25 acres of Worcester’s capped landfill and is the largest municipally-owned solar array in New England.
It is expected to produce energy that is equivalent to powering 1,340 homes per year.
Project Facts:
Created 150+ jobs, including an electrical crew of 50+ workers from the local IBEW 96
The City now generates 20% of its electricity from onsite solar
Expected energy savings of up to $2M and revenue from energy credits in first 10 years valued at $10M
Will offset 7,475 metric tons of carbon annually, equivalent amount emitted from driving ~18 million miles
